MESSAGE OF THE PHILIPPINE MEDICAL ASSOCIATION

MESSAGE

Greetings from the Philippine Medical Association!

It is with a distinct honor and a pleasure, for me, to convey my heartfelt felicitations and congratulations to the officers and members of the National Committee on Urban Pest Control on the holding of its observance of its 21st National Urban Pest Control/Zero Waste, Zero Pest Week on September 25 to 30, 2017.

It delights me to know that this year’s observance coincides with the observance of “Clean Up the World Month” of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). One of the main thrust of government is to prevent the occurrence of vector and pest borne diseases not only in urban centers but in areas near or close to human habitat where they can potentially spread diseases. A motorcade on the 25th of September to mark the opening ceremonies and launching of the nationwide anti-dengue and anti-zika virus operations, in coordination and collaboration of the local governments both from the National Capital Region and other areas of the country, speaks well of the dedication and diligent preparations of the organizers in this grand celebration with the theme: “Imagine Food Safety, Public Health, and Property Without Pest Control”. As an accredited CPD Provider of Agriculture, the NCUPC can stand proud of its performance as an organization and for its contribution in raising the level of health of our people.

On behalf of the other PMA national officers and members of the board of governors, allow me to reiterate my warm regards and best wishes to the officers and members of the National Committee on Urban Pest Control. More Power and Mabuhay!

IRINEO C. BERNARDO III, M.D.
President 2016-2018

MESSAGE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS & HIGHWAYS [DPWH]

MESSAGE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS & HIGHWAYS [DPWH]

Greetings to the National Committee on Urban Pest Control (NCUPC) as we observe the 21st National Urban Pest Control/ Zero Waste, Zero Pest Week on September 25 to 30, 2017.

I laud your organization for the continual effort to educate the detrimental effects of pests to human health and the damage they incur to properties. Worth mentioning is the nationwide Dengue/ Zika Operations with the Local Government Units, which has proven to be of great importance in a country like the Philippines where, time and again, cases of pest-borne diseases rise.

The event's theme: "Imagine Food Safety, Public Health, And Property Protection Without Pest Control," is a fitting call to reflect upon the possible risks that may impair the quality of our lives once we ignore the significance of pest control in our communities.

The Department of Public Works & Highways (DPWH) has always been one with your advocacy by means of proper waste management. We are compliant with the implementation of our "Solid Waste Management Policy" and we ensure that our projects, particularly in water infrastructure, strictly adhere to guidelines on sanitation through our "National Sewerage And Septage Management Program."

You are indeed one of our partners for national development as your efforts for general wellness and our thrust to accelerate infrastructure development both contribute to the rapid urbanization of our country.

May your week-long event be filled with engaging activities that will further boost the awareness of our fellow Filipinos to the importance of pest management for the attainment of our collective vision of a "Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Buhay."

I wish you success in all your worthy endeavors.

Mabuhay kayong lahat!
