President Rodrigo Roa Duterte Message on 20th National Urban Pest Control or Zero Waste, Zero Pest Week

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte's Message

MALACANAN PALACE
Manila

PRESIDENTIAL MESSAGE

My warmest greetings to the National Committee on Urban Pest Control as you celebrate your 20th National Urban Pest Control and Zero Waste, Zero Pest Week.

This event is timely and relevant as we have found numerous cases of Zika virus infections in Laguna, Iloilo and Cebu. Though all patients have already fully recovered, we still have to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of health risks. Like dengue, we can beat Zika together by working closely with the government through effective implementation of our solid waste management system to ensure that environmental pests are controlled in our respective communities.

May the NCUPC remain a reliable partner of our administration in our efforts to secure the health of our citizens and to promote a clean and well-managed environment. I am also inviting everyone to participate in the Caravan 2016: Joint National Dengue/ Zika Awareness Campaign which form part of the Department of Environment & Natural Resources' Clean Up the World Month. With our concerted efforts, we shall effectively address the menace of dengue and Zika viruses, and establish a healthy and empowered citizenry that is even more determined to effect real and lasting change.

I wish you an engaging and successful week.

RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE
The President of the Philippines
